NYPD – NBC New York

A man wanted for the robbery of a woman trapped in a subway turnstile was arrested Friday on charges of grand larceny hours after police released video of the shocking crime.

Police said the woman was trying to enter the Queens subway station on Tuesday when the suspect came up behind her and pinned the 26-year-old inside the full-body turnstile.

She tried to fight back, resisting from inside the turnstile, but the man was still able to grab her wallet before fleeing the station. Police said she wasn’t injured in the ordeal at the 63 Drive-Rego Park subway station.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the robbery Friday, hoping to get the public’s help identifying the previously unknown man. The 61-year-old Queens man was later identified and arrested by officials.
